Concerts in Dallas are a nightly event, whether music lovers are in the mood for an arena experience or a cozy show in a cocktail bar.
In 2001, the American Airlines Center opened and replaced the well-worn Reunion Arena as home to Dallas basketball team the Mavericks. Despite its focus on sports, the venue has seen its share of music over the years. Its first concert featured the legendary Eagles, and the band has set records for performing there more than any other act. Neil Diamond also stopped there during his 50 Year Anniversary World Tour.
Cotton Bowl Stadium is home to the Heart of Dallas Bowl along with concerts aplenty, including a 21-year-old Elvis Presley back in 1956. The King of Rock 'n' Roll reportedly drew the venue's biggest crowd at the time, getting more than 27,000 fans all shook up. Starplex Pavilion is another popular place to take in a show under the big Texas sky.
Fans of both Southern food and rock-and-blues-infused music have flocked to House of Blues Dallas for an intimate experience since it opened in 2011. From its Soundcheck Thursday series and Bar Society Showcase to acts like Macklemore and Thievery Corporation, the dinner-and-drinks venue caters to both regional and nationally touring acts.
With a capacity of 1,000, the historic Granada Theater also provides a more intimate experience. With its Art Deco exterior and old-school marquee, the Granada features grand murals designed by the same artist known for working on the renowned Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Though the venue first opened as a movie house, it has since become a locally beloved music venue, winning Best Live Music Venue from The Dallas Observer on multiple occasions.
With a jam-packed schedule that lasts all year long, Dallas concerts offer something for every kind of music fan. Purchase your show tickets in advance to ensure you don’t miss out on a memorable event.
